Micro Machine Guy!

I am known for being a talkative person. As a matter of fact sometimes I feel like I can't stop myself from blabbing on and on. I experience this at work all the time when I am telling a story, that I think is funny, and the story goes on and on. I can see my audience listening but thinking to themselves "where is this going?" So good luck to all who get sucked into my tangents and can't escape

This Jeep Liberty Sport is a pretty nice ride. We just took it in on trade from a lady who bought an Elantra. The previous owner really took good care of this Liberty. She just put 4 new tires on right before she traded it in. We have put it through out Murdock Certification Inspection and it flew through with no problems.

I Just Can't Stand That Guy!

While volunteering as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pennsylvania I was paired up with other missionaries to share in expenses and mainly help each other share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I served in 10 different areas of eastern / central Pennsylvania for two years.

Elantra Coupe Low Res Preview

This could be a photoshop job done right but it looks like a page from a new car brochure. Either way it looks good with those wheels and the darkened lower rear bumper valance. Stay tuned for more details!

Acronym Explained: ESC or ESP - Electronic Stability Control

There is such a thing as "car talk". If you are a "gear head" you may know all about "car talk" and how to decipher the language. If you are not however it can be hard to look smart when someone is gabbing on and on about a car and how it has ABS, DOHC, TCS, 16V, EBD, CVVT, PZEV, AWD, and maybe even a P205/55 R18 here and there. When you get into your car there may even be some buttons you don't know what they do!! So to help keep all these letter straight and what they all mean I have created a label called Acronym Explained. If you find yourself left in the dust when looking at cars and all the new gadgets and features - read on my friend....read on.

2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring Spy Photos

CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO ENLARGE

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra has been a great success. So much that Hyundai is revving up production on them to accommodate demand. The current 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring is based off the old Elantra platform and is a really nice car. What you are looking at are spy photos for the new Elantra Touring or i30 in Europe. It looks to be more of a hatch than a wagon. Everything should be updated as well with all the gadgets and quality of the '11 Elantra. From what we can see through all the covers the grill looks to be a little different design with a smile. Stay tuned for more details as they come!

Hyundai Bringing Tablets to Cars

When you purchase an Equus the vehicle comes with an iPAD in place of an owners manual. You can schedule service appointments and have your car picked up for you. It has all the vehicle information in the car and even has a nice leather carrying case.

Rumor has it Hyundai is talking with Samsung to bring tablets to their mainstream lineup. It will connect with the vehicle's internal systems and gather information, stream music and video, and control smartphones and their applications. Also, it should bring a user friendly twist to Hyundai's new Blue Link Technology.

In a recent interview with Krafcik he said that LCD screens are becoming cheaper and we will see more applications of them in the industry. Right now every Hyundai model can be equipped with a navigation system excluding the Accent. So it seems that this rumor buzz may become a reality soon. Stay tuned for more info!

Subaru has been a really popular brand here in Utah with their signature all-wheel drive systems and high reliability. When Brooke and I got married, she was driving a '96 Subaru with 160k on it. We sold it and I still from time to time see it driving around. They are really good cars.

Macedone Miles Hits 5000 Visits!

When I created this blog I never knew how much work it would end up to be. I am constantly looking for ways to improve it and make it more useful to people. It has been a lot of fun though to share my world and bring Hyundai updates to everyone. Macedone Miles has spread its wings across 43 countries and 40 states here in the U.S. Pretty interesting that people in Croatia and Turkey want to read about a regular guy's life and interest.

I have added an "Ask Joe" box where you can ask me questions, submit feedback on the blog, or even if you want to write a testimonial.

Also, you can subscribe to receive monthly newsletters in the mail with coupons that save you money at Murdock Hyundai. So thanks for reading to everyone near and far! Remember if you know anyone that is looking for a new or used car make sure to send them to JOE MACEDONE at Murdock Hyundai in Lindon. If they purchase a car I will send you a $50 gift certificate to use in our service department! Stay tuned for more give aways and other good deals too. Thanks again for reading. Drive Safe!

Turning Over a New Leaf

Recently I ran into an old friend from High School. When I saw them I felt immediately embarrassed but went up to catch up anyway. We talked for a little while and felt the need to apologize for the way I used to be and if I had ever offended them. High School wasn't that long ago for me but a lot has changed.

Price of Food Going Up

The news has been talking a lot about how the price of food has been going up. I am not a economist but I do understand the concept of supply and demand. I would be willing to bet that if we stopped paying farmers NOT to grow corn and other commodities the price of food would go back down. Let's hear what ol' Brian Regan has to say about it?

2011 Hyundai Sonata "Fluidic Sculpture" Explained

Hyundai's new design language has been pretty popular and we will see it applied to all the new Hyundai models shortly. Here is a quick video that explains where they got the inspiration for the new Sonata!

Holy Cow! I Cannot Afford Health Insurance!

Usually I like to keep posts, and blogs positive. I understand that life throws curve balls sometimes and you should be prepared for everything. I was born with congenial glaucoma in my left eye and have been very watchful of my vision since I was a very young kid. My wife before we were married went to the emergency room without health insurance and racked up huge bills. We have been trying to pay down her bills for the past 4 years and we are just now on the end tail of finishing paying it all off. So I am a big believer in health insurance for emergencies.

Warm Up Suits Are For Doing Supercool Stuff!

This movie is really funny! We have watched it over and over again! Here are some highlights in case you haven't seen it! Here is the review.

Numero Comparo: 2011 Hyundai Elanta

Facts are facts and when it comes down to it number don't lie. We can make a car looks glamorous with pictures and make it sound good by describing it with a lot of big words but a good old excel sheet will tell which is a happy meal and which is the meat and potatoes! Here is a comparison for the 2011 Hyundai Elantra and it's competition.

Hyundai Sonata Wagon Revealed

At first look you might mistake this bad boy for the new Elantra with a twist of the Veloster but it actually the Sonata Wagon (i40 in Europe). As weird as it sounds ol' Joe Macedone has always been a wagon fan.

Hyundai 3-series Competition Commercial!

This is a really funny old Hyundai commercial. I think Hyundais are just as good as a BMW these days but the Excel certainly didn't compete with a 3-series back in the day :) Silly Hyundai!

Crazy Make Up Video

After watching this you wonder why they need the girl at all with how much they changed her appearance!

Review: 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe has been a big contender in the mid-size CUV market for almost 9 years now! The freshening of the latest body style took place last year and Hyundai has made some some awesome improvements. 5 star crash test rating and 6 airbags make this SUV one of the safest on the road too!

FREE: Byu Bean Museum

Sometimes you need get out with the family and have some fun. The problem is when you take the entire fam it can get expensive. Even though our family is small right now I can imagine the bills could be pretty large think about my family of 15. We recently took a trip to the Monte L. Bean Science Museum at BYU with some friends. They call it the Dead Zoo. It is free and is full of all kinds of stuffed (taxidermy) animals.

They of course aren't living so you can get close to elephants, lions, bears, and lots of other wildlife. The have some interesting videos you can watch and sometimes there are little live shows they put on. Elisabeth had fun and we wish we went during the show. So for a cheap family night head over to the museum and hit up Costco for pizza and hot dogs afterwards.

Buzz: Hyundai 3 series fighter!

Sounds like Hyundai is thinking about adding again another vehicle to its growing premium line up. This time the BMW 3 is in Hyundai's sights to duplicate and improve upon. Many luxury manufacturers have tried to knock the 3 series of its pedestal and now Hyundai will take a shot!

"The Genesis Coupe is in the same segment, really, as the 3-series coupe," Hyundai CEO John Krafcik said. "One of the things we're thinking is: Should we do something that's a sedan version of that?"

Hyundai already has the platform ready to go with the Genesis coupe (Ford talked about making a 4 door sedan based of the mustang a few years ago too but it never happened) so they are half way there. The South Korean car company is building a name for itself quickly in the premium market with the Genesis Coupe, Genesis sedan, and the all-new Equus luxo barge!

Stay tuned for more info and renderings as they come!

Sometimes we get in really rare cars that you just don't see at auctions. This 08 Fusion is one of those types of cars. It is loaded up with leather, Ford's new SYNC, and even navigation. AWD would be nice around all this unpredictable weather and heated seats make things a little more comfortable on cold days.

2012 Hyundai Veracruz/ Santa Fe 7?

Are you the Santa Fe 7 seater? Sounds like the  2012 Hyundai Veracruz will be based off of a new Santa Fe platform. Right now, the current Santa Fe doesn't option a third row seat so Hyundai buyers with more than a few kids are opting for the larger Veracruz. Engine sizes, transmissions, and dimension details are scarce but we should probably expect Hyundai's new Lambda 3.8 liter GDi motor to adorn the big SUV and either Hyundai's 6 speed auto or 8 speed auto to put the power to the wheels. There are also rumors circulating that the new Veracruz will be part of Hyundai's new premium brand. Stay tuned for more details as they come.

Spiders

It isn't that I have a case of arachnophobia I just don't like spiders. I mean look at these ugly things, don't they give you the chills. They are disgusting! They move like tanks but usually pose no real threat. They are small and we are big. Apply a little pressure with a paper towel and them underneath and their little bodies break into pieces. It isn't that I am scared of them, but they are just nasty creatures I don't want in my home.

Before we moved in to this home, it was vacant for two years. We bought as a repossessed home and don't ask me why it took 2 years to go through the process but it did. Banks are no the best landlords - especially when they are out on the east coast. So this house sat and sat with no one sweeping, cleaning, or killing bugs.

Funny thing about bugs - THEY MULTIPLY RAPIDLY! My dad used to tell me that there is always a bigger fish and that holds true in the insect world too. When there are bugs to eat - there is something to eat the bugs. Spiders are the bigger bugs. They say that if you have spiders you really have a problem with another bug and the spiders are there to eat the other bugs. You can't tell me though that when there is a thread on your arm tickling as though something is crawling on you it doesn't make you jump a little.

When I first walked down the basement there were spider webs everywhere and I could see huge black widows hanging out near the vents. We purchased the home regardless of my dislike of spiders and the first thing we started to do was vacuum up spiders and their webs downstairs. There was a ton of them and their egg sacks - NASTY!

While remodeling though we tried to seal off any cracks and crevices that might cause our house to have 6 or 8 legged intruders. Well today I killed my first spider in our home. I was really hoping that we wouldn't have to deal with any until spring when it got a little warmer.

Like I said it isn't that I am afraid of spiders it is just that I don't like them. I know that God created them for a reason and with out them I would have a different problem on my hands with too many of other bugs crawling around. The one I have a real problem with is Mosquitoes WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM EH?!
