"Despicable Me" : Thumbs Up

Despicable Me was a great show! I have noticed that they make family movies these days more for parents than they do children. Shrek for example, has more adult humor in it than for kids. Some shows on the other hand, are geared too much for children and the parents suffer during the cheese. Despicable Me was the perfect blend of humor for adults and kids. Steve Carell does the voice of the main character, Gru, with a Russian-type accent and it sounds hilarious.

The story is a good one and the graphics are great. It is a different plot that most with the main character being a super villain who has had a failed career doing evil things. The random humor really made me laugh out loud throughout the entire show. My daughter, who is two, loved it as well and has watched it over and over again. She loves to quote the show and even tries to do the Gru accent. It is really a lot of fun.

The best part about the show is the little yellow guys called "Minions". They are little helpers and have their own language but they have a contagious laugh and are really animated. There is a really funny part in the beginning where there are three of them around a water fountain and one of them is imitating the bubbles that come after you fill your cup up. I laugh every time!!!

Another interesting fact, Pharell Williams from the Neptunes did all the music for the movie. If you don't know who he is - YOU SHOULD! He has a very different sound in his music which is much needed on the radio today with all the filler music that is always on (which should be another post in itself).

I probably wouldn't have seen this show in theatres just because I am cheap, however, I do think that the show is worth owning so you can enjoy it over and over. We have watched it three times in the past three days and it has been funny every time. Overall a great show!!!! Any other suggestions for good movies?
