In Europe Hyundai has a different branding of their vehicles. The Elantra GT is called the i30, the Sonata the i40, and the SUVs are all iX monikers. The i20 is in the Ford Fiesta and Mazda2 class but boasts fluidic sculpture design. The i20 probably will never make it over to the states but WRC fans will think it is awesome! Check out the video.

Check this stuff out! It is a clearbra type material that protects the windshield against rock chips and impacts. This would come in handy with a lot of vehicles and all the construction out there. No more smash and grabs from thieves either!

The Trade-in process is a tricky thing for most consumers and dealers to agree on. NADA, Kelly Blue Book and a handful of other smaller websites attempt to give a little guidance on what vehicles are worth. I have been helping people trade their vehicles for different transportation for over 7 years now and I just have not found their guides to be reliable. It is a daily occurrence that a customer tells me they have looked at the value of their car on one of those websites. The problem with these sites is there is no guarantee of value. They don't buy and sell the cars themselves. Their websites all say, guides, estimates, etc. There is a new website called Autotrader Marketplace however, that will buy cars - they have more accurate values too.

Our first Veloster Turbo has arrived! Hyundai continues to impress me with their turbo technology. I have only taken the car around the block but my first drive has given a great impression. Just like the Sonata the turbo lag is very minimal but the spooling up can still be heard. The exhaust is noticeably louder and the power is very smooth. I was expecting a whiplash ride but was pleased when it felt like a naturally aspirated vehicle with just more power. Awesome car! They are very very limited so if you know someone who wants one let me know.

It has been a long wait but the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has finally arrived at Murdock Hyundai. The new Santa Fe Sport is a little larger than the outgoing model and a more refined. More high-tensile steel makes the feel of the vehicle more stable and softer touch interior appointments make it a little more comfortable. Upgrades are all over this new 2013 Santa Fe Sport which now features driver selectable steering, LED accented lighting, Motor-driven steering, and Bluelink. New powertrain in impressive too! The GDi 2.4 and the 2.0 turbo engines are powerful and get better mileage.

Hyundai has been selling the Elantra nameplate in the U.S. for 22 years now and each model year gets better. This year Hyundai has added heated seats, dual climate control, and has been rated with the highest residual value in it's class. The Elantra has been rated Top Pick in Consumers Reports for the past 7 years too! The compact segment is a competitive one these days with big names and good reputations but the king of the hill has been and is still the Elantra. Check out it's maturity!

The Hyundai Tucson has been in its current form for 3 years now and is ready for a freshening. Updated front end, rear end, and equipment will keep the "Hyundai momentum" going and keep the Tucson at the forefront of people's mind. The styling is a little toned down from the previous model and these pictures might give us a glimpse of what "Fluidic Precision", Hyundai CEO's term for Hyundai's new styling direction, will look like. Stay tuned for more spy shots to come!

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe has finally arrived. The front has been revised with Gensis Coupe styling cues and sharper angles. The tail has been updated with a darkened rear fascia and dual exhaust. Trunk room remains similar and the rear room doesn't look to have shrunk at all. Bluetooth, USB/iPOD connectivity, Automatic transmission, Power Windows and Door Locks, and plenty of standards features makes it a great value. The car is fun to drive and economical! Watch out Civic Coupes!

It seems like the industry is trying to prove Hyundai's latest cars with all kinds of comparisons and gimmicks. The entire Hyundai line has competitive equipment, for a competitive price, with an awesome warranty. The Genesis Coupe has just been revamped for 2013 and now has more refined materials, new powertain, and a fresh new look. I have never thought of an arrow as a standard to measure speed before but I guess it would travel pretty fast and from a dead stop too. The Genesis Coupe does 0-60 mph anywhere between 5.2-5.9 seconds (depending on who is driving). Let's see how the arrow compares..

I personally think it is ridiculous when magazines and popular auto website pit the Genesis Coupe against American muscle cars. In 7 years of the helping people with cars, I have never had someone compare a pony car to an import sports coupe or sports car. The two crowds are completely different. Regardless of what I think it is still cool to see the comparo videos. Watch the suspension dip on the mustang compared to the Genesis- whew!

A vehicle is stolen approximately every 45 seconds in the U.S. Many people think that they are safe, don't lock their doors, and even leave their keys in the vehicle. This is asking for trouble. Part of the problem is we think it couldn't happen to us and if it does the thieves will drive it around the block to the grocery store to pick up some milk and get nabbed by the police. Check out this video and make sure you lock your doors!

I know it is a cheap shot and there nothing has been proved that Toyota had anything to do with the uninteded acceleration of it's vehicles these past few years, but regarless of blame Hyundai is doing something to fix it. The Hyundai Sonata has featured a system which cuts the accelerator pedal input off if the brake is applied. Starting this month all Hyundai's in the U.S. will feature Throttle Override. Hyundai will be the first automobile manufacturer to deliver 100% of their vehicles with this life saving device. The NHSTA is rumored to be working on making Throttle Override standard but Hyundai will lead the industry again just as it did with ESC.

It is no secret that Hyundai vehicles are selling faster than they can manufacture. We have been selling cars off the truck coming to deliver the vehicles. Hyundai has announced it will hire almost 900 workers at their world class plant in Montgomery, Alabama. This should help us here on the front lines with inventory and help Hyundai hit 20,000 more units in the U.S. Big wigs at Hyundai have also promised more vehicles assembled in Korea to come to the U.S. which have been focused on exporting to other countries. Both of these moves should steal away more of Nissan, Honda, and Toyota market share and make a lot of dealers and customers happy. Let's get these cars built guys!

There are things about buying a car that no one likes but are necessary evils. I would like to address some common dislikes about dealerships and get some opinions on what we can do to change.
Some dealership guests would rather go on a test drive on their own and some like it when a salesperson goes with them. I cannot speak for the guests but as far as the dealership logic goes this is the reason why I go on every test drive with few exceptions.

The 2009 Sonata, the 2011 Elantra and now the '12 Accent and Azera are added to the list. Ward's named the two redesigned vehicles top ten best interiors. Ward's says it judged the interiors based on design, fit-and-finish, comfort, ergonomics, safety, material selection, overall value, aesthetics, and human-machine interface. Take a look at these two beauties. If you or someone you know would like to take a seat in person let me know.

I have been with Murdock Hyundai now for a little over three years. I have loved helping guests find vehicles that fits their needs and that they love driving. We offer a no hassle car buying experience that I have not seen at any other dealership. It is great to have the ability to take care of people after the sale too - so they don't end up like this guy :)

Another Hyundai Elantra variant is released but what will it's name be? Who knows! There will be so many ways to have your Elantra it will feel like Burger King in 2013! Right now the Elantra Touring sold in the U.S. is the older version of this car so it will be interested to see if we get the CW or the regular i30 hatch. I think they both are an awesome upgrade!

Finally a clear picture of what the new Santa Fe will look like. Looks amazing! The new Santa Fe should be wider and longer giving it a ton more room. The new design language is called "storm edge" and is the next evolution from "fluidic sculpture. The new Santa Fe is right around the corner from hitting showrooms and we are expecting a full reveal next month will more details but in the meantime enjoy these pics!

It would appear that not only Hyundai owners love their Hyundais more than other brands but even the Hyundai dealers feel the company they represent is the best. NADA ranked Hyundai as the the most satisfying brand for dealers. They are happy with the feedback from the manufacturer and also feel they are very valued as an arm to get the vehicles to the public. As for Murdock Hyundai we have loved the Hyundai brand and their products! I guess that is what makes us the #1 Utah Hyundai dealer for 6 years in a row!
